Influencer 'Boss Mario' still missing

MELAKA: The disappearance of the social media influencer "Boss Mario" remains a mystery as no information has surfaced regarding his whereabouts.

There are no clues related to the disappearance of Yew Boon Xiang, 30, since last Friday, and even his family is at a loss as they failed to obtain any information from authorities or close contacts of Boss Mario.

His sister, Yew Lee Lee, 27, said her brother would only go somewhere for an extended period after informing the family.

However, Mario did not return home last Friday, and his mobile phone could not be reached, causing concern among his family members.

"Despite being active on social media and managing his business, Mario often stayed in touch with family members, including through the WhatsApp application.

"But last Friday, he could not be contacted. The last time Mario was active on WhatsApp was around 8am on that day, when he sent a receipt for the payment of his business product.

"After that, his mobile phone could not be reached," she said when met at their residence in Taman Pertam Jaya, Semabok, here today.

Lee Lee said there had been no change in her brother's demeanour, and the family understood that Mario had no enemies, debts, or other business problems.

She hopes Mario returns safely to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year (CNY) together on Saturday.

"Our family hasn't made any preparations for CNY. What's the point of celebrating without a family member who has always cared for us?

"Before this, he would buy all the necessities for the celebration, but this year, the mood for celebrating CNY is gone, and we only think about him."

Police has confirmed summoning Mario's contacts to obtain information regarding his disappearance.

"We are still trying to locate more of his friends who might know Mario's whereabouts."

News of Boss Mario's disappearance, who has more than 400,000 followers on social media, went viral since last Friday.

Police received a report of Mario's disappearance in Pantai Klebang after he left his home around 3am on the same day.

Melaka Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit said the young entrepreneur's Honda City car was found locked in the Pantai Klebang area around 6pm on the same day.
