Influencer to be charged with embezzlement of public funds tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: A 30-year-old social media influencer is expected to be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court tomorrow morning for alleged embezzlement of public funds.

The man was earlier arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission with his wife in July, and had their bank accounts with RM740,000 frozen.

The suspect, who is a well known social media influencer, preacher, entrepreneur and book writer and the 26-year-old wife was released on bail.

Tomorrow, one of them is expected to be charged under Section 44 of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.

It is learnt that the duo, who have since separated, will also be charged at the Shah Alam Sessions Court on Monday for a related offence.
