KUALA LUMPUR: Controversial blogger, Syarul Ema Rena Abu Samah or better known as Ratu Naga, was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) this morning.
Speaking to The New Straits Times, her husband Ezad Zainal, 49, confirmed that five officers, claiming to be from MACC raided the couple's house and arrested the 42-year-old.
"I had just got home after sending my daughter to school when five officers comprising four men and one woman in plainclothes knocked at our door at about 9am.
"They introduced themselves as MACC officers and insisted on conducting a raid on the house.
"They raided the entire house before leaving with Ema, her laptop and handphone after about 40 mins," said Ezad who lives in Jalan Klang Lama, when contacted this afternoon.
He said the officers also refused to provide any details on why his wife was being arrested and denied him the right to view a notice they held in their hand, allegedly the warrant of arrest.
"We kept asking them what they were looking to find but none of them was willing to say anything.
"They just told me that they are arresting my wife to facilitate an investigation.
"When I kept pressing further, for what offences exactly they were arresting Ema for, they wouldn't say," he added.
Ezad said their lawyer Nabila Khairuddin was currently waiting outside the MACC headquarters, where Ema had been allegedly taken for questioning.
Efforts to seek clarification from MACC have so far been futile.
