PETALING JAYA: Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin's paternal grandparents have been released on bail today.
They were seen leaving the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters at 2.30pm, accompanied by lawyer Fahmi Abd Moin.
Earlier, Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrulnizam Jaafar said they were only detained for 24 hours for questioning and would be released.
He said the release was done at Petaling Jaya district police headquarters and they were not be brought to court for remand.
Yesterday, the grandparents were detained at their home in Subang Bestari after returning from the Petaling Jaya Court Complex.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan had said their detention was to facilitate investigations on the boy's murder.
Zayn's parents were charged at the Sessions Court today with neglect of their six-year-old son which may have caused him physical injuries last December.
Both Zaim Ikhwan Zahari and Ismanira Abdul Manaf, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read before Judge Dr Syahliza Warnoh. They both requested for a trial and the court set July 26 for mention.
