KAJANG: The state police will organise the first Selangor Police Integrity Half Marathon at the Sultan Suleiman Stadium in Klang on on July 14.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the event is a strategic initiative that aims to instil good values such as honesty, transparency, and ethics among policemen and the community.
"The event will have several race categories, the five km open, 10km open and 21km categories.
"The marathon carries the theme 'Running with Integrity' and is hoped to have a positive impact on all involved," he told reporters today.
He hoped the programme would help to instil a sense of responsibility and ethics among the Selangor police while fostering positive relationships with the community.
"The amount of cash prizes offered to the winners for the event is up to RM16,800 and the profits earned will be donated to the Police Employers' Fund.
"Through this event,the Selangor police aims to become a stronger, more reliable and more community-oriented police force.
"The focus for the planning of this event is focused on three main elements which are fostering unity, creating positive interaction between law enforcement and the public and fostering a good perception of the police force," he said.
