BENTONG: The driver of a tour bus that overturned, killing two passengers at Km16.5 Jalan Genting-Bentong here yesterday has been arrested.
District police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said the 32-year-old man was detained last night.
The driver has been remanded for four days till July 3 for investigations under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Zaiham said police will be recording statements from several people, including the bus operator, injured passengers and witnesses at the scene to facilitate investigations.
Yesterday, Zaiham was reported as saying the driver did not possess a driving licence and has 27 previous traffic summonses.
Two Chinese nationals were killed and 19 other people, including the driver, were injured when the bus landed on its side while travelling downhill in the 10.40am incident.
