Duo expected to be charged tomorrow over Rajeswary cyberbullying case

KUALA LUMPUR: A man and woman are expected to face charges in court tomorrow for their alleged involvement in a cyberbullying case which led to the alleged suicide of a social media influencer.

Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari said the two suspects will face charges at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex.

Police had opened investigations into the case under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act for making statements with the intent to cause fear or alarm to the public and induce any person to commit an offence against the state or public tranquillity, as well as misuse of network facilities, respectively.

Two people have been arrested by police over the cyberbullying case so far.

First, a 35-year-old woman was arrested at around 1.45am at Jalan Cempaka 2, Bukit Beruntung Golf Resort, Rawang, last Monday.

Two days later, police arrested a 44-year-old lorry driver to help with further investigations.

The duo were believed to have targetted A. Rajeswary for cyberbullying. The influencer, who went by Esha, was believed to have committed suicide later because of their attacks.
