KUALA LUMPUR: Police have recorded a statement from a businessman following a report by the mother of influencer A. Rajeswary, also known as Esha, regarding her cyberbullying case.
The woman was found dead at her home in an apartment in Setapak on July 5.
Sentul district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari said two more people, including a female police inspector who has been suspended, will be called in to give statements.
"We will call them for their statements this week to complete our investigation," he said when contacted today.
Last Friday, Rajeshwary's mother, Puspa P. Rajagopal, 56, lodged a report involving two men and a woman who allegedly uploaded videos and conducted live broadcasts on social media about her daughter.
Puspa had urged the police to take stern action against anyone involved in the cyberbullying case to bring them to justice.
Rajeshwary was found dead a day after filing a report of criminal intimidation and defamation against herself at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters.
Consequently, two TikTok accounts were investigated by police, suspected of using Rajeswary's image as the background of their video content uploaded to their respective accounts.
The content allegedly contained threats and abusive, obscene language directed at the victim.
Acting on information, two people associated with the TikTok accounts were detained for investigation under Section 506 of the Penal Code, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, and Section 14 of the Minor Offenses Act 1955.
They were charged in two separate courts here yesterday in connection with Rajeshwary's death.
