KAJANG: Police have arrested four suspects, aged 18 to 44, in the murder of a man at Semenyih Dam, last month.
Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Nazron Abd Yusof said three of them would be charged in the Kajang Court Complex tomorrow morning while one would turn prosecution witness.
Nazron Abd Yusof said the motive behind the murder was debt-related.
The 29-year-old victim had owed one of the suspects RM7,000, Nazron said in a statement.
"The victim was also friends with the suspect."
The arrests follow a police report regarding a burnt body, later confirmed by DNA testing to be a Malay male, believed to have been murdered and found in a bushy area near Semenyih Dam on June 23.
Nazron said the four suspects were arrested last Thursday (July 11) in Batu 14, Hulu Langat.
He said the four tested positive for methamphetamine.
"Two of them had more than 20 prior criminal records."
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
