SHAH ALAM: Police seized RM7.8 million worth of drugs, including 44kg of ecstasy pills, in multiple raids on Wednesday.
Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Datuk Khaw Kok Chin said an operation took place at 5.50pm at an apartment at Bandar Tropicana Aman, Telok Panglima Garang l, where a drug runner was arrested.
Khaw said the syndicate was storing their drugs in vehicles before distributing them in the Klang Valley.
The operation at the Telok Panglima Garang apartment uncovered 44 kg of ecstasy pills and 3.55 kg of Erimin 5 pills stashed inside a car.
Based on the parking lot number, police raided an apartment unit and found around 2 kg of methamphetamines.
Five other suspects, including the owner of the vehicle, were arrested at separate locations within Selangor.
The urine test of all suspects was negative and five of them have prior criminal records.
Also seized were almost half a million ringgit worth of vehicles and more than RM50,000 in valuables.
Khaw said the drugs seized could be distributed to almost 250,000 people.
The syndicate, which he suspected was bringing drugs through the country's northern border, is believed to have been active since early 2024.
The case is being investigated under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
All suspects are currently remanded for five days, from July 18 until 22 as investigations are ongoing.
