ALOR STAR: The magistrate's court here today fined three Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) FC fans of RM100 each for lighting flares at the Darul Aman Stadium parking lot on Friday.

The three allegedly committed the offence to celebrate the club's victory against Kedah FC in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Forklift driver Jalali Hamid, 47, and engineering company worker Mohd Faizol Mohd Sapian, 27, pleaded guilty before magistrate Zul Hilmi Latif.

Clerk An'naffi Sahid, 34, pleaded guilty in another court before magistrate Siti Norhidayah Mohd Noor.

All three men, who were from Johor, paid the fine.

According to the charge, the men ignited flares without a valid permit at the Darul Aman Stadium parking lot at 10.45pm on July 19.

The offence is punishable under Section 3(5) of the Minor Offences Act 1955, which carries a maximum fine of RM100 or a jail sentence of up to 30 days, or both.

Deputy public prosecutor Farhanah Fuad prosecuted the cases against Faizol and Jalali, who were represented by lawyer Tasha Farha Mohamad Nizam.

Deputy public prosecutor J. Banusha prosecuted the case against An'naffi, who was represented by lawyer H. A. Chuah.

After issuing the sentences against Jalali and Faizol, magistrate Zulhilmi warned them against repeating the offence.

"This is not a game, this is serious. Do not repeat this offence, if not I will issue a maximum jail sentence," he said.

On Friday, JDT defeated Kedah 2-1 in the first leg of the FA Cup semi-final at the Darul Aman Stadium, with a last-minute goal by Romel Morales.

The teams will face off again in the second leg on Aug 4 at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri.
