SUBANG JAYA: Three men were caught red-handed while trying to steal a Toyota Fortuner here.
Further investigation by police revealed that one of the suspects had nearly 100 prior criminal and drug records while another had 75.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said they received information about the incident at around 12.30am on Monday and investigated.
"A team from Subang Jaya Criminal Investigation Department (CID) went to the parking lot in front of a hotel at USJ Sentral 1 and arrested three men who were suspected of trying to steal the vehicle," he said in a statement on Tuesday.
He said the three suspects aged between 33 and 45 were caught inside the vehicle.
"When we checked the suspects, we found tools and electronic accessories which we suspect were used for stealing cars.
"All three suspects have records for crime and drug offences," he said.
He said investigations revealed one of the suspects had 79 criminal records and 12 drug records.
"The second suspect had 18 crime records and two drug records while the third suspect had 69 crime records and six drug records.
"All the suspect's urine tested positive for methamphetamines," he said adding that they have been remanded for four days to help with investigations.
He said investigations were ongoing to uncover the group's activities in 4x4 vehicle theft cases.
