KUALA SELANGOR: The director of a petrol station was fined RM100,000 by the Sessions Court here today for selling subsidised diesel to a customer two years ago.
Judge Ahmad Faizadh Yahya imposed the fine on the 50-year-old man, after he pleaded guilty to the charges.
Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDN) Selangor, Enforcement chief Mohd Khairi Jamaludin said the suspect appeared for the first mention of the case.
"Based on the facts of the case, the petrol station located in Tanjong Karang sold 3,720 litres of subsidised diesel to a customer at 5.45am on May 25, 2022.
"This transaction is against the law and is in violation of Regulation 21(1) of the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974 - which stipulates that retail licence holders are not allowed to sell controlled items such as petrol or diesel in large quantities except to verified tankers, manufacturers or industries authorised under the Controller of Supplies (under the Control of Supplies Act 1961)," he said in a statement.
He added that the prosecution was carried out by Public Prosecuting Officer, Khatijah Abdul Rajah, while the accused was unrepresented .
