Remand extended for suspect in abduction of 17-year-old girl

KAJANG: Police here today obtained a one-week remand extension against a 20-year-old man, who is suspected of abducting a teenager. 

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said investigations into the incident are ongoing.

"He will be held in custody until Aug 3," Hussein told the 'New Straits Times' after "Hari Bertemu Pelanggan" at the Bandar Baru Bangi police station near here.

Also present were district police chief Assistant Commissioner Nazron Abd Yusof and his deputy Superintendent Muhamad Nasir Drahman.

The 17-year-old girl's parents had on July 24 made a police report on her disappearance.

The day after, Hussein said the girl was found safe in Pahang with an unemployed man.

The man is believed to have abducted her and taken her to a relative's house in Triang, Hulu Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Asri Mohd Yunus had said. He was remanded in custody until today.
