Ms Puiyi gets court order to recover RM4.3million from ex-business partner [WATCH]

GEORGE TOWN: Malaysian influencer, DJ and film actress Siew Pui Yi has successfully obtained a Judgment in Default (JID) for the amount of RM4.3 million from her former business partner.

Better known as Ms Puiyi, the 25-year-old, had filed a civil suit against her former business partner in April for allegedly cheating her of RM4.3 million between 2022 and 2023.

The civil action was to recover the amount defrauded by him.

Ms Puiyi claimed that her former business partner had deceived her by promising that he could resolve her company and her personal income tax issues with the Inland Revenue Board.

Speaking to reporters at her lawyer's office at Jalan Green Hall here this morning, Ms Puiyi said her solicitor had filed a JID against her former business partner, which she named as Lai Kai Jian, also known as Mentos, last Friday.

"And we have successfully obtained the JID for the amount of RM4.3 million.

"For your information, the defendant in this case has not filed any appearance or documents from his side in relation to the case filed against him," she said.

Ms Puiyi also made public the face of her former business partner.

Meanwhile, Ms Puiyi's lawyer, K. Mahendren, said he would await further instructions from his client before executing the court order.

"There are a few ways to recover the amount owed to my client. I will discuss it with her before carrying out the execution," he said.

Mahendren said they had followed all the necessary procedures to reach out to Mentos but to no avail.

"My client also lodged a police report at the northeast district police headquarters on Oct 24 last year.

"We will let the police locate his whereabouts. I was told they had gone to his house in Kuala Lumpur on numerous occasions but he was not there," he added.

Ms Puiyi said she last saw Mentos in August and was in contact with him until October last year.

She also said that she had managed to resolve her issue with the IRB but did not disclose details.

"All I can say is everything has been resolved.

"At the height of the issue, I was not able to fly around for two to three months and it was upsetting as I had made previous engagements.

"Thankfully, my clients were understanding and I managed to replace the dates for my engagements in Australia," she added.

Ms Puiyi said she just wanted to put everything past her after this.

"I have a few charity events lined up. I intend to create awareness among the young ladies out there about my case," she said.
