KUALA LUMPUR: A container lorry driver has died after his lorry collided with two other vehicles on Kilometre (KM) 441.2 on the North-South Expressway (Plus) heading south early this morning.
The victim, a local man aged 32, was pinned in the driver's seat and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Earlier, the Fire and Rescue Department's Selangor Operations Team received a report of an accident involving a car, a trailer truck, and a container lorry at 6.02am.
Selangor Operations assistant director Mukhlis Mukhtar said seven personnel from the Rawang Fire and Rescue Department station were dispatched to the scene.
He said apart from the container lorry driver, the other two victims - the trailer truck driver and the Proton Persona driver - only sustained minor injuries.
"The two victims in the trailer truck and the Proton Persona, both male, were successfully extricated with the assistance of the public before the fire department arrived at the scene.
"The container lorry driver, who was trapped, was extracted by the fire team at 6.51am but was confirmed dead by the Health Ministry's medical team," he said in a statement today.
The body of the container lorry driver was handed over to the police for further action.
Earlier, it was reported that the traffic on the Plus highway southbound from Sungai Buaya to Rawang was congested for 8km due to the three-vehicle accident.
Plus Malaysia Bhd, via its X account @plustrafik said the accident caused traffic congestion in both directions.
