Johor motorcyclist killed in three-vehicle crash

SERI ALAM: A 34-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a three-vehicle crash along Jalan Bandar in Pasir Gudang, here, yesterday.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had crashed into an idle motorcyclist who had stopped to avoid a trailer, after the trailer driver had changed lanes abruptly, in the 1.09pm accident.

District police chief Superintendent Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the trailer driver, 45, had changed lanes to the right to avoid a car that had broken down on the road's left shoulder.

A motorcyclist had stopped to avoid the trailer, and the victim trailing behind the motorcycle, was unable to stop in time and crashed into the motorcycle.

The victim sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other motorcyclist sustained injuries to his left hand, thigh, and waist and was taken to the Sultan Ismail Hospital.

Sohaimi advised road users to exercise caution, abide by traffic regulations, and remain vigilant while driving.

He urged witnesses with information on the accident to come forward and contact the police at 07-3864222.
