Company using pirated software raided by authorities

KULIM: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry yesterday seized computers worth RM3,160 in a raid on a company here that was using pirated software.

State Domestic Trade and Cost of Living director Muhammad Nizam Jamaluddin said the company used the software to design metal and fabrication products.

He said the raid on the premises in the Padang Serai Industrial Zone at 2pm was carried out following three weeks of surveillance. Three representatives of the software's copyright holder were present.

"We found that three copies of pirated software had been installed in two computers," Nizam said in a statement today.
