City Hall cracks down on foreign-run stalls, car wash operations

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has sealed off unlicensed stalls and car wash operations run by foreign vendors during a raid on July 31.

In a raid by its Wangsa Maju branch, enforcement actions were taken against nine hawkers, four of whom were foreign nationals.

"These hawkers were found operating without necessary licences and obstructing public spaces.

"Seven of them were penalised under Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974 while the two others under the Hawker Licencing By-laws (WPKL) 2016," City Hall stated on their official Facebook page earlier today.

During the raid, City Hall confiscated various items which were then transported to the Jalan Lombong depot in Taman Miharja Cheras for proper record-keeping and documentation.

City Hall says it will carry out checks more regularly to screen such illegal operators.

"The public is encouraged to report any violations or provide relevant information to the  official City Hall website or contact the enforcement department directly for further details," it said.
