CYBERJAYA: Selangor is targeting the construction of 60,000 units of affordable housing under the Rumah Idaman initiative by 2027, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
Amirudin said a total of 40,000 units are in the pipeline, awaiting planning permission and building approval, among other requirements.
Of these, he said 10,000 units are already in production.
"We are targetting that in 2026-2027, we will have 60,000 units (under the Rumah Idaman initiative).
"About 40,000 of the units are in the pipeline, pending approval and other processes and 10,000 units are in production.
"Currently, we have about 3,000 to 4,000 units that are already completed," he said to reporters after the after launching the Putra Idaman affordable housing project, here today.
He said the Rumah Idaman project is progressing well, with more developers committing to the affordable housing initiative.
Earlier in his speech, Amirudin said the Rumah Idaman project, an initiative by Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI), aims to provide quality home ownership for the people of Selangor, particularly for the B40 and M40 groups, as well as youths seeking to purchase their first home.
The Putra Idaman project under this initiative is a 20-storey 502 units project spanning 6.7 acres and developed by Permodalan Negeri Selangor Bhd (PNSB) through its subsidiary, PNSB Construction Sdn. Bhd. (PCSB), in collaboration with Oriental Interest Bhd (OIB Group).
It is scheduled to be completed in 2028.
The residential area, located in Desa Pinggiran Putra, would be equipped with various facilities such as a gym for the disabled (OKU), a surau, a kindergarten, a hall, a multipurpose court, and a children's playground.
The event also saw the groundbreaking ceremony of the Saujana Idaman project, a 858 unit project in Dengkil.
"As with other Rumah Idaman developments, Rumah Idaman Putra and Saujana also offer affordable and reasonable prices for first-time homebuyers, with unit sizes of 1,000 square feet priced at RM250,000.00.
"In addition to being built near social and economic infrastructure, homeowners can enjoy a modern lifestyle in strategic and rapidly developing areas," Amirudin said.
He added that the state would also receive 26 units of the Putra Idaman housing for the Smart Rental Scheme, rent-to-own programme.
