KUALA LUMPUR: Police are trying to locate the social media account user 'Syedewa' over a posting he made on X about his encounter at a roadblock recently.
Petaling Jaya police chief Shahrulnizam Ja'afar said a traffic personnel who was on duty during the roadblock had lodged a report following the man's posting.
Syedewa, in his post, claimed that a police officer had falsely accused him of not wearing his seatbelt and tried to issue him a summons.
"The police stopped me to issue a summons for not wearing a seatbelt even though I was wearing it.
"He said his friend saw that I was not wearing it, or that I had just strapped it on (upon seeing the block).
"I asked him to show proof that I was not wearing my seatbelt. He said his colleague was the one who saw me not having the seatbelt on," he wrote, adding that the traffic policeman then told him that if he was not happy, he could fight it in court.
The man also asked what was wrong with the police these days, who seemed so desperate to issue summons.
In a second post, he said although he was let off, he questioned how could the policeman simply accuse or use assumptions to issue a summons to anyone, and simply ask the person to fight it in court?
Shahrulnizam said following the report, police were trying to locate the man to hear both sides of the story.
