AMPANG JAYA: Police have arrested a 17-year-old student for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old junior at his home in Taman Keramat, Hulu Kelang, yesterday.
The suspect, a Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidate, and the victim, who attend the same school, had only recently become acquainted, knowing each other for about two months before the suspect invited the victim to his house.
The victim reported that on July 25 at around 2pm, the suspect allegedly forced her to engage in sexual acts and assaulted her, said Ampang Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail.
The victim first reported the incident to her school's disciplinary teacher before filing a police report.
Police arrested the suspect in Hulu Kelang at 9pm last night.
He has been remanded for five days until August 15 to assist with the investigation under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
