Ketum seized in drug raid on police base meant for personal use, say cops

SEPANG: The ketum juice seized during a raid on the General Operations Force Central Brigade base in Cheras was meant for personal use, said police today.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the nine suspects arrested, including a General Operations Force member, were under remand.

"Our investigations reveal the ketum was meant for personal use.

"We will complete the investigation papers and hand them to the deputy public prosecutor's office soon."

He said this at the Sepang police headquarters.

Nine people, including a policeman, were arrested in a drug raid on the brigade base on Aug 5.

Police raided the living quarters of a policeman on Monday night, which led to his arrest and that of six foreigners

Police seized a substance believed to be ketum juice during the raid.

Police have opened one investigation paper for possessing prohibited items under the Poisons Act 1952.

Police opened a second investigation paper under the Immigration Act to facilitate investigations into the foreigners arrested.
