PETALING JAYA: Nine people, including a policeman, were arrested in a drug raid at the General Operations Force Central Brigade base in Cheras on Monday.
It was learnt that police raided the living quarters of a rank and file policeman on Monday night, which led to his arrest along with six foreigners.
Police seized 9l of a substance believed to be ketum juice during the raid found in the quarters.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed the raid and arrest by federal police in Bukit Aman.
"Yes, i can confirm that a policeman has been arrested together with six foreigners and two (Malaysian) civilians in connection with this case.
"Police have opened one investigation paper for possessing prohibited items under the Poisons Act 1952," he told reporters after witnessing the disposal of case items at the Ara Damansara police station here.
Hussein said police have also opened a second investigation paper under the Immigration Act to facilitate investigations of the foreigners arrested.
"All of the suspects have been remanded to help facilitate investigations. Our investigations are underway to determine if the place was being used to process, distribute the substance or if it was meant for personal use," he said.
