SANDAKAN: A man was charged in the magistrate's court here today for the murder of a 35-year-old man, who is the son of a restaurant owner here, in July.
No plea was recorded from the accused, Mohd Zulfaizzie Hanafi Mohd Firdaus, 23, as the court is still waiting for the post-mortem examination report.
Magistrate Nur Faezah Jafry fixed Sept 10 for mention of the case and did not allow the accused to be released on bail.
Based on the charge sheet, Mohd Zulfaizzie along with two others who are still at large, are charged with murdering Mohammed Noufal Abdul Rasheed, 35, between 5.18am on July 21 and 11.30am on July 25.
He is accused of committing the crime in a bush near an oil palm plantation on Jalan Sungai Memanjang, near here.
He was charged according to Section 302 of the Penal Code.
The prosecution was carried out by prosecuting officer Assistant Superintendent Zamri Zakaria, while the accused was not represented.
It was previously reported that police were looking for three men after the body of a man was found in a bush near an oil palm plantation on July 25.
The body was identified as Mohd Noufal who was previously reported missing.
