Personal assistant held on suspicion of stealing employer's jewellery, cash

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have detained a personal assistant on suspicion of stealing jewellery belonging to her employer's child, as well as RM10,000.

The suspect was brought to the Ampang magistrate's court today (Friday) for a remand application, and was granted a four-day remand up to Aug 18.

Investigations revealed that the complainant, who was at her home in Taman Cempaka, Ampang, had noticed that the items were missing. When questioned, the suspect denied any involvement.

It was also reported that the suspect had two criminal records.

The case is being investigated for theft in a building. If convicted, the suspect could face a maximum prison sentence of 10 years, along with a possible fine or caning.
