KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested a 28-year-old woman on Wednesday after she was accused of stealing jewellery belonging to a popular actress, according to reports.
Sources told Harian Metro that the woman, who is the personal assistant to the actress, was detained when she was summoned to give her statement at the Gombak district police headquarters.
"It is understood that the theft occurred in June this year after the actress noticed that her gold necklace was missing.
"A gold necklace belonging to the actress's child also went missing," the source was quoted as saying in the report.
The report stated that the actress also lost RM10,000 in cash.
"A search of the suspect's house in Gombak led to the recovery of the missing jewellery," the source added.
According to the report, the personal assistant also filed a report, claiming she was assaulted by the actress.
The personal assistant allegedly claimed she was assaulted because she had spread rumours that the actress's marriage was in trouble.
The report further stated that Harian Metro is seeking confirmation from the police regarding the arrest.
