SUNGAI PETANI: Police have detained two more men in connection with the attack on two men in Bedong, last Thursday, which left a car washer dead and a security guard severely injured.
Kuala Muda police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said the men, in their 20s and 30s, were detained in separate locations in Bedong yesterday evening.
"Police have obtained a four-day remand order against the two men beginning today.
"With the new arrests, we have 10 men in custody to assist in the investigations," he said after attending the Kedah police town hall session with the Kuala Muda district local community here, today.
Azharuddin added that based on initial investigations, the incident was not related to a turf war between rival underworld gangs.
"We believe the incident was triggered by a longstanding personal grudge between the victims and the attackers."
He did not discount the possibility of police making more arrests in connection with the case.
Yesterday, it was reported that police had rounded up eight men in connection with the attack.
It was reported that a car washer was killed, while a security guard was critically injured after they were attacked by a group of men in separate locations around Bedong.
The first attack took place at an empty lot near Kampung Toh Pawang.
The security guard was attacked by a group of five men armed with parangs, but the victim's friend managed to flee from the scene.
The suspects then headed to a car wash in Taman Bedong, some 2.7km away, and attacked the car washer.
Both men were rushed to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital by their friends, but the car washer was pronounced dead on arrival.
