KUALA LUMPUR: A woman was stabbed to death at a restaurant in a shopping centre in Cheras yesterday.
Cheras district police chief Assistant Commissioner Aidil Bolhassan said the 49-year-old victim, who worked as a cashier at a restaurant, was stabbed with a knife.
"The police received information regarding an incident where a woman was stabbed with a knife where she died en route to the hospital.
"There were four to five stab wounds on the victim's body; however, the weapon used has yet to be found," he said in a statement.
He said the incident occurred between 3pm and 4pm yesterday.
Following the incident, Aidil said, seven suspects, who were colleagues of the victim, had been detained to assist in further investigations.
He said the victim's body was sent to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) for further action.
"Police are still tracing witnesses and investigating the motive behind the murder," he said.
