KUALA LUMPUR: A bank officer was fined RM3,500 by the magistrate's court today after pleading guilty to insulting the modesty of a female spa worker last month.
Magistrate Aina Azahra Arifin ordered Thong Yong Ling, 44, to serve five months in jail if he fails to pay the fine.
Thong was charged with committing the act by exposing his private parts to the victim, 20, at a spa centre in Brickfields on July 12.
The charge, which falls under Section 509 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum five-year jail term or with a fine or both upon conviction.
According to the facts of the case, the victim was massaging Thong when he deliberately lowered his trousers, exposing his private parts.
Deputy public prosecutor Izzat Amir Idham asked the court to hand down an appropriate sentence against the accused as a lesson.
In mitigation, defence lawyer V. Yoges pleaded for a minimum penalty as his client is a single parent and supporting his family.
