RANTAU PANJANG: Three men, including two Thai nationals, were nabbed on possession of more than 63,000 methamphetamine pills and 2kg of syabu worth RM1.02 million in total yesterday.
The three were detained in separate raids at two houses in Lubok Setol, here.
General Operations Force (GOF) Southeast Brigade Commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid said the raids were carried out by GOF members from the Ninth Battalion based on public information.
"GOF members were conducting Op Taring Wawasan when the raids were carried out.
"After raiding the two houses, they found the pills and syabu inside two bags.
"A scuffle ensued between the suspects and the GOF members, but the officers managed to apprehend all three shortly later."
He said the initial investigation showed that the three were members of a drug smuggling syndicate active along the Kelantan-Thai border.
He added the suspects, aged between 31 to 36, all tested positive for methamphetamine.
"We suspect the drugs, which were smuggled into Kelantan from the many illegal jetties along the border, are for local distribution.
"The three have been handed over to Pasir Mas police's criminal investigation officer for further action."
