Three friends arrested in Rantau Panjang with 5kg of cannabis, 2,000 Yaba pills

RANTAU PANJANG: Three best friends were arrested with 5kg of cannabis and 2,000 Yaba pills, valued at about RM45,000, in an operation here last night.

Also seized in the operation were a car, five handphones and RM600 cash.

The cannabis was found inside the car boot while the pills were seized from a house belonging to one of the three.

General Operation Force Southeast Brigade commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid said the three were travelling in a car when they were stopped by GOF personnel at 11pm.

"The suspects were passing a roadblock at Chabang Empat Salam when they were stopped by the GOF personnel for inspection.

"After checking on the boot, they found 5kg of the cannabis worth about RM15,500.

"in a follow-up operation at a house in Kampung Jeram Perdah about 4am today, they found 2,000 pills valued at about RM30,000," he added.

He said the suspects, aged 22,24 and 27, were believed to be drug pushers and they had obtained the drugs from their counterparts in Thailand.

"Two of them were tested positive for drugs. The three, all locals, were being held for further action," he added.

On another note, he said a lorry driver and his attendant were detained with 44 smuggled goats worth RM55,000 in Pasir Mas last night.

He added the lorry was passing Kampung Repek when it was stopped by GOF personnel at about midnight.

"The goats, weighing about 2,200kg, were smuggled from Thailand for local distribution.

"We suspect the two men, aged 20 and 55, were hired by an individual to send the smuggled goats to local buyers," he added.
