MELAKA: A director and a senior manager of an advertising company have been remanded for five days to aid in investigations into a case involving the submission of false reports on billboard installation work to the state government agency since 2021.
It was reported that the remand order was issued by Magistrate Khairunnisak Hassni on both suspects aged 46 and 48 starting yesterday until Saturday.
Sources said both suspects were detained while giving statements at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office at 3pm on Monday.
A preliminary investigation found that they were believed to have committed the offense since 2021 by providing false details in their reports to the relevant agency.
It is learnt that the billboard installation work in question was valued at millions of ringgit.
Meanwhile, Melaka MACC director Adi Supian Shafie when contacted confirmed the arrest which was made under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
The suspects arrived at the Ayer Keroh court complex at 9am yesterday.
It was previously reported that two billboards located in Bachang and Banda Hilir were found to be without licenses from the local authority and were likely not adhering to the prescribed procedures.
