KULIM: Police are searching for a driver who fled after allegedly running down a man on a motorcycle along the Kulim-Mahang trunk road near Taman Sepilai in Sungai Kob here on Monday.
District police chief Superintendent Mohd Azizul Mohd Khairi said the accident occurred at 7.45pm, with the victim, identified as 25-year-old Ahmad Zikry Norazman, died at the scene due to severe injuries.
"We have yet to determine the type of vehicle involved, but the front right bumper is believed to be damaged.
"As of today, no police report has been filed by the driver," he said in a statement.
Police are appealing for witnesses to provide information on the vehicle's registration number and type to assist in the investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
"Anyone with information on the accident is urged to contact the Kulim district police headquarters.
"The body was sent to Kulim Hospital for post-mortem," he added.
