"He always asked for forgiveness", says teacher of hit-and-run victim [WATCH]

KAJANG: "Every time we met, Aqil would ask for forgiveness, ask for prayers for his success in the upcoming Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, and ask for blessing for all the knowledge that had been shared with him."

Those are the memories of Che Sepiah Che Hussin, the teacher of Aqil Mawardi, 17, a student from SMK Saujana Impian who died in a hit-and-run accident at around 2.15pm yesterday.

The accident occurred while the victim was travelling from Taman Prima Saujana to attend an extra class at school.

His motorcycle collided with a lorry coming from the Semenyih-Cheras direction, near the Saujana Impian traffic lights.

The son of Federal Territories Syariah Prosecution Department deputy director 1, Mawardi Che Man, died at the scene after reportedly suffering severe head injuries.

Che Sepiah, the Form 5 Science teacher at the school, said she was shocked when informed of the incident by a colleague while she was preparing to go home.

"The last time I saw him was last Wednesday. He asked me to bless all the knowledge shared and asked for prayers for his excellent results in the SPM," she said.

Speaking at Aqil's funeral and prayer service at the Prima Saujana Mosque, Che Sepiah said Aqil's passing had a profound impact, as he was always respectful of all his teachers, friends, and consistently focused on his studies.

"He was also one of the excellent students and was the school's hope for achieving outstanding results in this year's SPM," she said of the third child among five siblings.

Aqil's friend since their days at SK Taman Kantan Permai, Mohamad Hakimi Mohd Hamizul, 17, said he, Aqil, and a few other friends had performed Friday prayers at the Sri Saujana Surau before the incident.

"Some friends saw and passed by the accident scene, but no one expected it involved Aqil until the sad news was shared by a teacher while we were in class," he said.

Aqil's father, in a Facebook post, appealed for help from the public who may have dashcam footage of the accident to share the information with the police.

So far, no information about the lorry has been obtained, and the public can contact the investigating officer at 012-3268496 to assist with the investigation.
