NIBONG TEBAL: Two men, aged 29 and 30, with 14 and 25 previous criminal records, were arrested yesterday for their involvement in a series of robbery and assault cases.
State police chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad confirmed that police arrested the duo in Juru, Bukit Mertajam, and Air Itam, George Town, around 12.20am, following a tip-off and intelligence gathering.
"These arrests solved five robbery and assault cases, as well as one motorcycle theft in the Seberang Prai Tengah district, with total losses reported at RM12,350," he told reporters at the South Seberang Selatan district police headquarters.
Among the items seized were two pairs of jeans, two sweaters, two sling bags, two motorcycles with keys, three knives, two cellphones, a remote-controlled key, and 14 pieces of currency in various denominations.
Both suspects have been remanded for seven days to assist investigations under Section 397 of the Penal Code.
"Urine tests conducted on the duo tested positive for methamphetamine," he added.
