Remand extended for married GISB couple [WATCH]

SHAH ALAM: Police today obtained an extension on remand orders to detain a couple linked to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISB).

The five-day remand extension was granted by Shah Alam magistrate's court deputy registrar Nurshahira Abdul Salim against a man known as "Tuan Usu" and his wife.

They are being held to assist investigations into child exploitation and trafficking.

The couple had initially been remanded for seven days, with that order expiring today.

The case is being investigated under Section 31(a) of the Child Act 2001 and the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2022.

The couple had earlier arrived at the Shah Alam Court Complex about 10am, wearing lockup clothing.

Meanwhile, 15 children identified as the biological children of a senior GISB leader, are expected to be placed under the care of three Welfare Department shelters in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur and Johor.

The court approved the placement of these children, aged between 3 and 16, following a request made by the Welfare Department today.

The children were transported in a police van and arrived at the court about 10am.
