KUALA LUMPUR: A fire broke out in the emergency stairwell on level three of the Suria KLCC shopping mall today.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department in a statement said the fire, originated from a pile of boxes in a garbage bin, was brought under control by 8.45pm, with no injuries or casualties reported.
Kuala Lumpur Operations Centre received an alert via the Automatic Fire Monitoring System (SPKA) at 8.12pm.
Operations commander Senior fire officer II Mohd Azimin Bin Mohd Zaidi said thick smoke was visible on the third floor when the team arrived.
A hose line was used to extinguish the flames, and ventilation procedures were carried out to clear the smoke.
Firefighters from the Jalan Tun Razak, Hang Tuah, and Titiwangsa stations were deployed to the scene.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
