Three injured in Jalan Gombak apartment fire

KUALA LUMPUR: Three people escaped with minor injuries after an apartment unit caught fire along Jalan Gombak here.

According to the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operations centre, they received a distress call at around 1.16am on Sunday.

"A total of three fire engines, two emergency medical rescue service vehicles and 21 staff were sent to the scene.

"The assets and firemen were from the Setapak, Gombak Selatan and Sentul Fire Stations," it said in a statement.

Operations commander Rozaidi Mat Isa said as soon as they arrived on scene, they found that the shoe storage area in front of the apartment had caught fire.

"Eight people who were inside the house at the time of the incident were rescued.

"Three of them suffered minor injuries and were brought to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for treatment," he said.

He added that the fire was put out soon after and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
