KUALA LUMPUR: A man is expected to be charged in court tomorrow with abusing a child at a welfare home linked to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISB).
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Hassan, who confirmed the matter when contacted today, said the investigation papers for the case against the 35-year-old had been sent to the Attorney-General's Chambers, with police receiving orders for the man to be charged.
"The man will be charged under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 at the Selayang Sessions Court," he said.
Federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman had earlier sent out an invitation to the media to cover the case.
The man is expected to be produced in court at 8.45am.
Hundreds of children have been rescued from GISB-linked homes. The authorities are currently assessing their mental state as they were believed to have been abused.
Earlier today, Razarudin had told the New Straits Times that police have so far frozen 205 bank accounts linked to GISB. These accounts contained more than RM1.35 million in funds.
He had also said that the 24 people currently under remand to facilitate an Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 probe, including the GISB chief executive officer and other top brass, are expected to be held further.
