KEMAMAN: A superbike rider was killed in a horrific accident at KM322.8 on the East Coast Highway 2 (LPT2) near Kerteh yesterday.
His body was severed into three parts in the accident which occurred at 7pm.
The victim, identified as Mohd Rafee Mohd Saari, 54, from Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, lost control of his high-powered BMW RT motorcycle, crashed into a road divider while en route to Kuala Terengganu for work.
District police chief Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan confirmed that the impact threw the victim on the highway.
"The motorcycle skidded before hitting the road divider, causing the victim to be thrown from his bike," he told Kosmo!
He said that Mohd Rafee's remains had been sent to the Forensic Unit at Kemaman Hopital.
This incident follows two other fatalities on LPT2.
On Sept 15, RXZ Members 6.0 participant Ahmad Amir Muhammad, 29, died at KM369.5 after colliding with another RXZ motorcycle and a trailer.
Three days later, an Indian national died when the lorry he was in collided with a stationary vehicle at KM258.1 at 7.30am.
