Johor superbike convoy member killed in multivehicle crash

BATU PAHAT: A 63-year-old superbiker was killed in a multivehicle collision involving three high-powered motorcycles and a car in Jalan Paloh-Yong Peng near Kangkar Baru, here, this morning.

Razak Jufrin, who was part of the Johor chapter's Malaysian Superbike Association (SAM) on a mission to deliver aid to 'asnaf' (underprivileged) communities in Kluang, was killed in the 8am crash.

Razak's younger brother, Mohd Huzaini Jufrin, 55, was emotional when he recalled their final moments together.

"Last night, I slept beside him in Segamat, but today I've lost my brother," he said.

The convoy had set off from Pasir Gudang with a group of 100 motorcyclists, half of them on superbikes and the rest on smaller-capacity machines.

Huzaini said the convoy was riding ahead of Razak when they received a call about the accident.

"I was told that there was a crash, but I didn't know he had passed away," he said at Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital's forensic unit, here, today.

Razak, the eldest of eight siblings, had long been an active participant in SAM's charity convoys. He was known for his friendly demeanour and dedication to helping those in need.

"He was always cheerful and loved to joke around. Just last night, he was chatting with us. It feels surreal that he's gone," Huzaini said.

The journey, originally planned to conclude in Mersing, was halted as members paid their respects.

Razak's funeral is expected to be held at Kampung Kopok in Pasir Gudang after a post-mortem with the burial expected by tonight.
