JOHOR BARU: Police arrested two men after a brawl on an express bus at a bus station near Larkin yesterday went viral.
Johor Baru (South) police chief, Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat, said police received the video around 9.30am yesterday. The fight was between two individuals and the bus driver.
He said police received a report at 1.03pm on Thursday from the 22-year-old driver.
"Acting on the information, between 7pm and 11.30pm yesterday, two men, aged 36 and 40, were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the fight.
"They were detained at two separate locations – in Alor Gajah, Melaka, and Dataran Larkin here," he said in a statement today.
According to Raub, preliminary investigations revealed that the fight was triggered by the victim speaking disrespectfully to both suspects, who are also his cousins, which resulted in the brawl.
Raub said a background check revealed that the first suspect had three previous criminal records, while the second suspect had one.
He added that initial urine tests conducted on both suspects came back negative for drugs.
The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
