Cops arrest school bus driver who filmed students, called them "crush" [WATCH]

JOHOR BARU: A 24-year-old school bus driver who filmed primary school students and referred to them as his "crush", has been arrested.

State police chief Commissioner M Kumar said the driver was arrested in Simpang Renggam at 2.57am.

The bus driver's mobile phone has also been seized.

Kumar said the police received a report about a video uploaded by the bus driver on TikTok.

The video on the bus driver's account, which has 600,000 followers, drew widespread attention.

It shows a primary school girl with the caption, "harini crush kita buat homework" (today our crush is doing her homework).

Women, Family, and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri denounced the video and ordered a police report to be lodged.

Kumar, in a statement today, said police were probing the case.

"We urge the parents of the child in the video to step forward and assist in investigations."

He said the case was being probed under Section 15 (a) (iii) of the Sexual Offences against Children Act for constantly following or watching a child by any means.

The bus driver is also being investigated under Section 15(2) of the Child Act for publishing a child's photo electronically.

If found guilty of both offences, the bus driver can face up to 15 years in jail and fined up to RM30,000 or both.

Kumar advised parents to monitor their children for any signs of emotional distress or physical abuse.
