KUALA LUMPUR: Police investigations into the woman arrested for the fatal crash that killed three Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) students in Dungun, Terengganu are being conducted according to standard procedures, despite claims of her having mental health issues.
Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said investigations into the case would proceed as usual, including making arrests and obtaining remand against those suspected to be involved in the case without any exceptions.
Apart from taking statements from her husband and witnesses, Yusri said police will also obtain the woman's medical report to complete their investigations into the accident.
"Once all investigation procedures are completed, the woman will be charged in court," Yusri said when contacted today.
He added that the next course of actions, whether the woman will be referred for psychiatric treatment or otherwise, will depend on the decision by the court.
Terengganu Health Department director Datuk Dr Kasemani Embong told a Malay daily that there was no record of mental health treatment for the woman involved in the accident on Wednesday.
She, however, said the department could not confirm if the woman had sought treatment in another state.
