[Updated] Ex-MBI COO remanded 7 days in new MACC probe

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) obtained a seven-day remand order for a former Selangor Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) chief operation officer in connection with a new investigation.

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the magistrate's court today granted the commision's application for a remand on the 45-year-old individual.

"This morning, we obtained another remand for the former COO of MBI, who we previously arrested but was only remanded for one day.

"The magistrate's court granted a seven-day remand," Azam added, saying that the individual was detained over a different issue this time.

A previous report stated that a 45-year-old former Selangor MBI employee was detained.

This arrest followed a raid on six more premises yesterday in an investigation into a multi-million ringgit corruption scandal involving sand mining concessions linked to Selangor MBI.
