2 suspects arrested an hour after Kota Tinggi mini mart robbery

KOTA TINGGI: Police arrested two men within an hour after they allegedly robbed a mini market and injured a 27-year-old foreign shop assistant in Taman Kota here yesterday.

The suspects, aged 25 and 26, allegedly armed with a cleaver, attacked the male victim, before robbing the store of RM300 and fleeing on a motorcycle at 8.30pm.

District police chief Superintendent Yusof Othman said the suspects were arrested in separate locations in the vicinity an hour later.

Police seized RM284, a cleaver, a pair of jeans and a motorcycle.

Yusof said the suspects, who tested negative for drugs, had been remanded to facilitate investigations.

The offence carries a maximum 20-year jail term, a fine and canning.
