KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested two women for allegedly abusing a 25-year-old Indonesian helper, who was assaulted with a hammer and scalded with an iron.
Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said the arrest was made following a report lodged by the victim at around 2.25pm on Oct 13.
Azam said that according to the report, the victim claimed she had been working at a house in Taman Putra Sulaiman for two years.
"The victim claimed that her employers, two women, had injured her with a hammer, metal clips, and an iron," he said in a statement today.
He said the woman suffered injuries to her arms and legs.
"She escaped from the house and sought help from members of the public.
"At around 11.30am on Oct 14, a team from the Ampang Jaya Criminal Investigation Department arrested two women aged 40 and 61 at the house," he said.
Both women arrested to facilitate the investigation into the case, he said, did not have prior records and have since been released on police bail while investigations continue
"Investigations showed that the employers accused the victim of being lazy.
"They were also unhappy because she constantly forgot to do the housework they instructed her to do," he said.
Azam said the case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons.
He urged those with information on the case to contact the Selangor police hotline at 03-2052 9999 or go to the nearest police station.
