Police hunt for driver in hit-and-run along Sungai Besi Expressway

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle who was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run accident which led to a motorcyclist being sent to the hospital.

City Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (JSPT) chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said a video, believed to be dashcam footage of the accident, has since gone viral.

"We were alerted about the incident at around 7.07pm on Monday which occurred along the Sungai Besi Expressway heading towards The Mines Seri Kembangan.

"Our investigations revealed that the accident occurred at around 2.34pm on Oct 11," he said in a statement on Tuesday.

He said the motorcyclist was riding on the ramp into the expressway when an unknown vehicle coming from the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan hit the motorcyclist.

"The collision caused the motorcyclist to lose control of the machine and fall on the road.

"The driver of the other vehicle however did not stop and fled the scene," he said, adding that the 40-year-old rider was taken by ambulance for treatment at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz.

He said police were identifying the motorist who fled.

"We urge anyone who witnessed the incident or those with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward immediately to the Kuala Lumpur Traffic police station.

"Those with information can also contact Insp Zuhairi at 017-973 2731 or the City JSPT office at 03-2071 9999," he said.
