PENAMPANG: Police dismantled a gambling syndicate involving baccarat and poker, arresting five individuals during a raid at a commercial centre here, yesterday.
The five detainees, including a woman, were apprehended at 8.30pm as part of Op Dadu, following intelligence-led operations.
District police chief Superintendent Sammy Newton said that those arrested ranged in age from 23 to 39.
"During the raid, we seized various gambling equipment and cash believed to be betting money totaling RM12,260. Four men and one foreign woman were detained at the scene and taken to IPD Penampang for further action," he said in a statement today.
Sammy added that the case was being investigated under Section 6 of the Open House Gambling Act (ARJT) 1954.
